SHE SAID SHE DIDN’T LOVE ME ANYMORE

by Robert Newton

I sat at home alone there by the telephone,
With a pint of Chunky Monkey in my hand,
And I remembered to those days on which the sun had shone,
And how we never got to do those things we planned.

She packed her things and left me for another guy,
She wanted more from me than I could give,
She told me,
"Nothin’ lasts forever but the Earth and sky,
With you to tie me down’s no way to live."

It was then I realized I started losing things,
Like my job, my car, and then my piece of mind,
And I’ll never learn to fly again with broken wings,
And if you hang around me long enough you’ll find...

That I’m crazy...crazy from the pain,
I’ve gone crazy––yes, I’m insane.

And I’m here upon this roof now,
With a rifle in my hand,
‘Cause she said she didn’t love me anymore.
Yes, I’m here upon this roof now,
With a rifle in my hand,
Sneaky louse-infested, virus-breeding whore.

"Surrender and I promise that you won’t be hurt!"

My heart told me that when I fell in love,
I aim at some poor slob in a "Co-Ed Naked" shirt,
My thirty-aught-six sounds off from up above.

Through a megaphone I hear them calling out my name,

"Throw down the gun right and kindly end this show!"

This is much more fun than any Nintendo game––
And besides, I can’t have anyone else know
That she had packed her things and left me for another guy,
And she wanted more from me than I could give,
Tellin’ me,
"Nothin’ lasts forever but the earth and sky,"
And,
"With you to tie me down’s no way to live."

Now I’m crazy...crazy from the pain,
I’ve gone crazy--certified insane.

I can see her house from up here
And she looks just like an ant
Think I’ll show her what a laser-sight is for.
Took a bullet from the S.W.A.T. team
Through my head and rang the bell
Pardon me, ain’t that my brain stem on the floor?
And I’m here upon this roof now with a rifle in my hand
Sneaky louse-infested, virus-breeding whore

Yes, they shot me in the belfry
And I lumpied in my pants
‘Cause she said she didn’t love me anymore.
